ADR-0009: Complete W7 Foundation v1.0

Context

W7's governing documents, architecture, frameworks, standards, and first initiative were active, but the repository still described itself as version 0.1.0 and left several identity and operating concepts implicit. Mission, values, principles of building, operating model, core color and typography roles, voice and tone, visual language, and the initiative registry required canonical homes before the repository could accurately claim a complete Foundation v1.0.

Constitutional Assessment

  • Why should this exist? A version milestone must correspond to an explicit, coherent, navigable body of governing documentation.
  • Who benefits? The founder, future contributors, initiative leads, and readers gain one complete baseline rather than reconstructing intent from scattered references.
  • Will it remain valuable over time? Yes. The documents define durable roles and principles while allowing assets, initiatives, and products to evolve separately.
  • Does it strengthen the W7 ecosystem? Yes. It closes structural gaps without inventing products or promoting candidate initiatives prematurely.

Decision

Adopt the expanded Foundation and Identity documentation, the canonical initiative registry, and aligned repository navigation as W7 Foundation v1.0. Foundation v1.0 means the operating model is complete enough to govern new work; it does not mean every future initiative, product, brand asset, or organization capability already exists.

Alternatives Considered

  • Keep the repository at v0.1 until a product ships. Rejected because repository maturity and product maturity are separate concerns.
  • Treat the existing documents as sufficient and leave concepts implicit. Rejected because implicit identity and operating rules cannot be reviewed or inherited reliably.
  • Register all discussed future initiatives now. Rejected because names and ideas have not completed the Initiative Framework.

Consequences

The repository can identify itself as Foundation v1.0 and serve as the canonical baseline for future initiatives. New governing changes continue to require the existing Decision Framework. Production identity assets remain future governed work, and candidate initiatives remain unregistered until separately approved.
